University Research and Strategic Investments (URSI)
The University Research and Strategic Investments Branch (URSI) is responsible for administering two research capacity/equipment grant programs; the Alberta Science and Research Investments Program (ASRIP) and the
Small Equipment Grants Program (SEGP). The ASRIP and SEGP are competitive cost-shared programs that operate in coordination with the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI). The key objectives of these programs are to support quality and research excellence, build innovation capacity, and promote initiatives of strategic benefit to Alberta. Eligible applicants include Alberta CFI- eligible universities, private university-colleges, colleges, technical institutes and research-based hospitals.
The URSI Branch also liaises with other research agencies, contributes to policy and planning, and coordinates key targeted investments in strategic research initiatives and research capacity platforms.
